AION 2 best pets to farm: pick a goal, then a source

The AION 2 best pets to farm depend on what you are missing: a new collection entry, matching souls for an upgrade or progress in one genus. Pick that goal first. An accessible source with the correct reward is more useful than a popular pet name whose route you cannot enter.

Choose the reward you actually need

Your goalPrioritizeStop or reassess when
Own a new petAn unowned pet with an accessible acquisition sourceThe pet is unlocked; decide separately whether to continue upgrading
Raise one pet's InsightThat pet's matching Soul rewardThe intended level is reached or the next cost is outside your budget
Build one genus collectionReachable unowned pets in that genusThe current route no longer adds the progress you need
Prepare a transformationAn eligible regular pet and its matching soulsThe function is unlocked; then check Candy separately

The Taiwan official pet guide explains monster souls, pet rewards and the conversion of further souls at the regional maximum into genus crystals. English Global community guidance also distinguishes collection, Pet Insight and Genus Insight. A farm can therefore change purpose after its pet is finished; verify the reward you are getting now instead of using the same label for every stage.

Four published targets and when to investigate them

These are conditional starting points from community source records, not measured souls-per-hour winners. Your faction, quest access, gear and the current reward panel decide whether a route is practical.

TargetWhy investigate itCheck before farming
PapisA Fera collection candidate with listed Verteron and Altgard variantsThe exact monster variant, your reachable region and matching Soul reward
Konutin WorkerA Natura candidate when its listed region fits your existing routeRegional source access; do not assume an enemy faction's route is available
Black Smoke MuruteA Natura candidate worth checking during existing Fire Temple runsThe correct encounter and reward handling; community datasets disagree on drop versus kill reward
Silver Blade RotanA Varian collection candidate for players who can reach its listed sourceExact source, level and current entry conditions before scheduling repeat runs

For a broader choice, filter the pet database by genus and source type, then inspect the acquisition explorer. The explorer combines named sources with an original interactive reference grid containing five selected Verteron spawn points from Pet Soul Atlas. These use the community dataset's X/Z units, with X horizontal and Z vertical. They are not in-game GPS coordinates or a metre scale. Each point links to its original Atlas source; live-client position and axis calibration have not been tested. Sources without a mapped reference remain in the searchable list.

Inspect a source in this order

  1. Match the name. Find the exact pet, its matching soul and the source monster or reward container. Similar names can refer to different variants.
  2. Confirm access. Check faction, region, quest progress, dungeon difficulty and entry restrictions. A database listing is not permission to enter.
  3. Read the reward type. A Pet reward, a named Soul reward and a random chest have different outcomes. Inspect the current preview.
  4. Check quantity and certainty. Count a guaranteed quantity only when the current reward establishes it. A blank drop rate is unknown, not zero or 100%.
  5. Observe one eligible reward. Check inventory or progress after the encounter. This helps detect a wrong source, but one success does not establish a guaranteed rate.
  6. Choose a stopping point. Set a soul target and a time or entry budget. Recheck the panel when the pet levels up.

A merchant pool is especially easy to misread. The Global Black Smoke Murute record lists random shop pools and explicitly says that per-item prices are absent from those client tables. Read the current offer before spending; the presence of a pet in a pool does not mean it is in stock now.

Turn a soul target into a sensible session plan

The Pet Soul Planner adds the transition costs you enter, subtracts matching souls you already have and prevents the gap from going below zero. Only enter a souls-per-run quantity when it is guaranteed for that exact repeatable source. Otherwise leave it unknown; the planner can show the soul gap without inventing a run count.

For a hypothetical plan, suppose the next two transitions cost 20 and 60 souls and you have 17 unspent matching souls. The gap is 20 + 60 − 17 = 63 souls. If a verified repeatable reward gives exactly 3 each time, you need 21 runs. If its reward is random, 21 is not a valid guarantee. These example costs are invented for demonstrating the calculation and are not AION 2 default costs.

Compare routes on the work they require, not just reward size. A large reward behind a locked activity may be less useful today than a smaller source already on your route. Include travel, entry availability and the time you can actually spend. We do not publish a universal fastest route because we have no controlled live farming measurements.

Make selection chests count

Before using a chest, determine whether it lets you choose an outcome or draws from a random pool. Read the full current reward preview. The existence of several pets in a database's chest table is not proof that you can select any of them.

The Black Smoke Murute item description in gaming.tools states that an already owned pet becomes a Soul. It does not establish the same duplicate quantity for every chest or item. Preserve this distinction when planning an upgrade.

When to change the route

Reassess if the reward is not the named soul, the source needs a different difficulty, an entry window has closed or you have reached the level you planned. Do not keep farming merely because a guide ranks the pet highly.

Use the selection guide to choose a target, the Genus Insight guide to separate resource types and the transformation guide when your goal is a pet form. Send region-specific corrections through Contact with the source and current client details.
