Choose with a purposeBest AION 2 Pets
The best next pet is the one that adds an effect you value through a source you can reliably access.
These are goal-based starting points, not tested DPS rankings. Values come from cited community records. Owned-effect stacking and current region rules should be confirmed in your Pets UI before spending.
Five useful starting points
FeraTravel and an early Fera target
Check a low-level Papis variant on your route. Its listed first-level effect is mount ground speed; the second level adds Accuracy Bonus.
First check: For a first Fera collection target, check the low-level Gentle Papis in Verteron or the Faded Papis appropriate to your Altgard route. The name of the monster can differ from the name of the pet; check the reward label before farming.
NaturaA local Natura collection
Consider the Worker that is accessible in your current region. Its listed Stamina effect overlaps with other Natura pets, so route convenience matters.
First check: For a Natura collection goal, the listed level-24 Tolbas source is a different acquisition route from the Fire Temple Murute. Choose the source already accessible to you rather than treating one appearance as a stronger pet.
CogniA first Cogni record
The listed first-level owned effect is HP. Compare the reachable Krall variant before committing to a longer or higher-level route.
First check: Check the level-21 soldiers or sentinels on your current route before moving to the level-41 variant. The Cogni stat package is a reason to compare this family when seeking those stats, not proof of a best-in-slot pet.
VarianA Varian upgrade target
The listed first-level effect reduces mount sprint stamina cost. Match it to your travel use and inspect the source conditions first.
First check: Decide between an Abyss route and a Fire Temple run using the sources available to your character. The three listed monster names feed one pet entry; they are not three separate pets, and no universal fastest route has been established.
NaturaA dungeon-aligned target
Check the Fire Temple reward while you are already there. Community sources disagree on reward handling; no guaranteed rate is assumed.
First check: If you are already running Fire Temple, check the mid-boss reward before planning a separate farm. Community datasets disagree on whether the soul is a monster drop or a kill reward, so this entry does not promise a guaranteed rate.
Choose in this order
- Set the task. Are you collecting a new owned effect, raising a genus, or unlocking a travel ability?
- Check access. Compare faction, region, enemy level, dungeon mode and reward conditions.
- Compare the actual gain. Read the next insight level, rather than assuming every upgrade gives the same stat.
- Budget Souls. Use costs shown by your current client in the Soul planner.
- Verify the first reward. Distinguish a Pet from a Soul before repeating a farm.
PvE and PvP: compare the effect, then the build
Accuracy, resistance, HP and travel effects answer different needs. This database does not contain verified class simulations, so it does not claim a universal best pet for every class. A pet’s appearance or genus alone is not evidence of damage value.
When comparing two targets, hold insight level and game region constant. If both provide the same relevant effect, obtainability and Soul budget may be more useful tie-breakers than a letter grade.
Best pets to farm: start where you already play
A nearby monster variant can be a better collection task than detouring for an uncertain reward. Papis, Konutin Worker and Krall Laborer are practical records to inspect for early routes. Murute is a conditional dungeon choice. Use the farming checklist before estimating any repeat count.
